After re-reading the 64-bit stuff I downloaded the b4-bit Karmic live
CD.

Running the Live CD "as is" the only displays available were 640x480 and
800x600 on restart entering the boot command "nomodeset" the following
display resolutions were also available: 1360x768, 1152x864 (default),
and 1024x768. I am attaching the results of xrandr --verbose and the
Xorglog.

I am starting to think this monitor works best on 4:3 resolutions on
linux and 4:5 on windows, as on my XP Pro partition the "default"
resolution is 1280x1024 with all the 4:3 resolutions appearing "warped".
