It sounds like for whatever reason, the driver failed to build properly (perhaps bug 450493 or bug 434154 but could be anything) and jockey did not propagate the error up (bug 451305) and set nvidia up to boot. Since it failed to build, it fails to boot. Unfortunately the logs for the boot failure don't explain the build failure.
I think it is likely each person on this bug report may be having a separate issue, so I would ask everyone but stevie to file a separate bug report. Stevie, are you still experiencing the issue? If so, can you attach your jockey, apt, and dpkg log files? You can find them in /var/log. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- nvidia restricted drivers 170 and 185 module dont get loaded by kernel and cause gdm not to load https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/436037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
