Is the fglrx kernel module loaded properly? Your Xorg.0.log shows that you are using the fglrx driver, but the 3D part of it failed to initialize.
(WW) fglrx(0): *********************************************** (WW) fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed! * (WW) fglrx(0): * (maybe driver kernel module missing or bad) * (WW) fglrx(0): * 2D acceleraton available (MMIO) * (WW) fglrx(0): * no 3D acceleration available * (WW) fglrx(0): ********************************************* *
It is always a bug when a program exits with an assertion failure, so it ought to be fixed by ATI. You can probably get things working on your system by making sure the drivers are installed properly. e.g. install the fglrx packages and then reboot, to make sure the fglrx kernel module is loaded. The .deb packages have a problem on amd64 (http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1695), although it doesn't affect 32-bit systems like yours. ** Bug watch added: ATi Linux Platform Bugs #1695 http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1695 -- Catalyst Control Centre Crashes when started. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/469239 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
