Actually, I gave some thought to this, and decided that since xorg.conf.failsafe is so obscure of a file, if someone did overwrite it, it would likely have been for a good reason, and that overwriting it would perhaps be rude.
For instance, this file assumes the "vesa" driver will work on their hardware, but that is not true in all situations. Perhaps they edit it to change to fbdev or something else. Shouldn't we respect whatever they specify? ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Triaged -- Failsafe X doesn't always overwrite /etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480747 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
