Similar problem here, Nvidia agp card on a 32bit AMD. On a fresh install of karmic, the live CD works fine. The initial install reboot works fine, but when I install the recommended Nvidia driver and reboot I get a fast flashing black console screen with a login prompt. It looks like a failed X server trying to start.
