Thank you for the update, Steve. I'm closing this. I have had one user confirm that his i945 freezes continue under Lucid (bug 475429) and two Karmic users with i945 confirm that downgrading mesa to 7.5 helps. But that (or those) bug(s) is probably different from the one you had.
And why do I think a GPU hang can be a mesa bug? I read http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24825 comment #10 from Carl Worth, which seems to indicate that. You probably know the details better than me, but couldn't a dri freeze be a bug in src/mesa/drivers/dri/i915 in mesa? Or how do you see that it is kernel level? ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #24825 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24825 ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- [i945] another happy X freeze in karmic [i945GM] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445719 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
