This affects me as well. I have dm-crypt and auto-login, and I am able to ctrl+alt+f1 to console before X hangs.
It seems that X works fine until I press the enter key for any reason. Strange. I'm also able to ssh into my box when it hangs. In Xorg.0.log this happens when i press enter (nothing happens in other logs): Backtrace: 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x28) [0x4a2438] 1: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x650ed) [0x4650ed] 2: /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x7ff2af1c7000+0xf780) [0x7ff2af1d6780] 3: /lib/libc.so.6 (__select+0x13) [0x7ff2adf81be3] 4: /usr/bin/X (WaitForSomething+0x1ba) [0x45f4ba] 5: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x30802) [0x430802] 6: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x2614a) [0x42614a] 7: /lib/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xfd) [0x7ff2adec3c4d] 8: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x25cf9) [0x425cf9] Caught signal 3 (Quit).
