** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I use standard ubuntu System/Preferences/Display tool to operate a DVI- connected monitor to my Lenovo W500 laptop. When the laptop screen is off, and the external monitor is on, the video is garbled - vertical columns of pixels are either missing, or duplicated, so that f.ex. letter "m" may look like a wide "n", and "o" like a "c". Horizontal rows are not affected, so the desktop is operation and visible, although in a very distorted way. Xorg.log, lspci, xorg.conf etc are collected at http://karasik.eu.org/misc/intel/ ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Mon Jan 4 15:07:39 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) MachineType: LENOVO 40625YG Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2 [modified: usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ch7017.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ch7xxx.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ivch.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/sil164.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/tfp410.so] PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-16-generic-pae root=UUID=854cf3ac-bcb1-4a3c-a590-1cdfdc21793e ro nomodeset ProcEnviron: LANG=ru_RU.KOI8-R SHELL=/usr/bin/zsh ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-16.53-generic-pae RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu10 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0-1ubuntu4 libdrm2 2.4.14-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090929.7968e1fb-0ubuntu1 SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-intel Uname: Linux 2.6.31-16-generic-pae i686 dmi.bios.date: 10/02/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 7VET80WW (3.10 ) dmi.board.name: 40625YG dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr7VET80WW(3.10):bd10/02/2009:svnLENOVO:pn40625YG:pvrThinkPadW500:rvnLENOVO:rn40625YG:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 40625YG dmi.product.version: ThinkPad W500 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO fglrx: Not loaded system: distro: Ubuntu architecture: i686kernel: 2.6.31-16-generic-pae + + [lspci] + 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650 [1002:9591] + Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:2127]
