Thank you Bryce for keeping this bug posted:  I no longer have this
particular system, so I will not be able to provide further information
from it nor make changes to it, but the information provided here may be
beneficial to Ubuntu's next LTS version and updates for Karmic.  Again,
the issue seems to exist in the driver between the EDID of the monitor
and the i865 chipset.  I look forward to seeing any developmental posts
with regards to the issue.
