Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
I used jockey to uninstall the nvidia driver, then I deleted the xorg.conf files to remove any traces of it's configuration modifications. I rebooted, then install the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package and rebooted. After a long delay X comes up and gdm looks like the attached photo. I captured all the information I could think of and will attach them. If anything is missing I can likely reproduce this very easily.
