An another observation: Without xorg.conf and ~/.config/monitors.xml my monitor saying: DSUB OUT OF RANGE 53.5kHz / 85 Hz
(i haven't set any resolution...etc) PS.: this message started to appear on my external monitor when the system asked for my encrypted root partition password...
