As you can see in XorgLog.txt, I use a radeon graphics card (Radeon HD 4670).
I updated xserver-xorg-video-ati to a current git snapshot 1b7e9a2e [1] and the tearing bug was fixed. I cherry picked "r6xx/r7xx: implement EXA vline support" [2] and updated the xserver-xorg-video-ati package, but then the login fails and GDM reappears. So we have to cherry pick more than this single patch.
