Same problem (but with a different intel-chipset): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/522940 The bug description of this bug sounds familiar (Xorg freeze after grub with video-intel), however the chipset is different. Therefore, I am not sure if this is a duplicate or not.
