I have to withdraw my previous comment. The truth is that I have two machines theoretically with the same configuration (except the hard drives are different). Both are the same acer ferrari 4005 WLMi model. In one of them the color depth degradation still appears while the other one suffers from Bug #524860 related to gnome-keyring but color depth changes after suspend/resume does not appear.
I did the following experiment: I switched on both machines when booted up I logged in, suspended and resumed. After these I coppied the file from /var/log/Xorg.0.log to Xorg.0.log_homepc (refers to homepc suffering from color depth changes after resume) and Xorg.0.log_hardnut (refers to the other laptop without any issue after resume) Please, find the difference between the two files here below. (It seems that the two radeon x700 cards are a bit different) zva...@hardnut:~$ diff Xorg.0.log_homepc Xorg.0.log_hardnut 6,9c6,9 < Current Operating System: Linux homepc 2.6.32-15-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 2 02:23:29 UTC 2010 x86_64 < Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-15-generic root=UUID=ce9e0038-ae57-40d1-b512-7fb439874808 ro quiet splash < Build Date: 02 March 2010 03:30:16PM < xorg-server 2:1.7.5-1ubuntu2 (buildd@) --- > Current Operating System: Linux hardnut 2.6.32-15-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP Tue > Mar 2 02:23:29 UTC 2010 x86_64 > Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.32-15-generic > root=UUID=4ceac70f-55c9-4a91-baae-aee960ec8114 ro quiet splash > Build Date: 19 February 2010 11:38:32AM > xorg-server 2:1.7.5-1ubuntu1 (buildd@) 16,17c16,17 < (==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Wed Mar 3 08:05:23 2010 < (II) Loader magic: 0x7c82e0 --- > (==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Wed Mar 3 09:18:02 2010 > (II) Loader magic: 0x7c8300 93c93 < (WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (No such file or directory) --- > (II) Open ACPI successful (/var/run/acpid.socket) 369c369 < drmOpenDevice: open result is 8, (OK) --- > drmOpenDevice: open result is 9, (OK) 371c371 < drmOpenDevice: open result is 8, (OK) --- > drmOpenDevice: open result is 9, (OK) 374,375c374,375 < drmOpenDevice: open result is 8, (OK) < drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 8 --- > drmOpenDevice: open result is 9, (OK) > drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 9 385,386c385,386 < (II) RADEON(0): Manufacturer: SEC Model: 3446 Serial#: 0 < (II) RADEON(0): Year: 2006 Week: 0 --- > (II) RADEON(0): Manufacturer: SEC Model: 0 Serial#: 0 > (II) RADEON(0): Year: 2003 Week: 0 403c403 < (II) RADEON(0): LTN154P4-L01 --- > (II) RADEON(0): LTN154P1-L02 405,406c405,406 < (II) RADEON(0): 00ffffffffffff004ca3463400000000 < (II) RADEON(0): 00100103802115780a87f594574f8c27 --- > (II) RADEON(0): 00ffffffffffff004ca3000000000000 > (II) RADEON(0): 000d0103802115780a87f594574f8c27 410c410 < (II) RADEON(0): 00000000003cd2026400000000fe0053 --- > (II) RADEON(0): 00000000003cd2026401000000fe0053 412c412 < (II) RADEON(0): 004c544e31353450342d4c30310a0080 --- > (II) RADEON(0): 004c544e31353450312d4c30320a00fe 497a498,500 > record: RECORD extension enabled at configure time. > record: This extension is known to be broken, disabling extension now.. > record: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20500 600c603 < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 --- > (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 0 603c606 < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 --- > (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 0 606c609 < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 --- > (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 0 609c612 < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 --- > (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 0 612c615 < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 --- > (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 0 615,624c618 < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 < (II) RADEON(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: < (II) RADEON(0): Modeline "1680x1050"x0.0 121.00 1680 1704 1792 1876 1050 1051 1054 1065 -hsync -vsync (64.5 kHz) < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 < (II) RADEON(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: < (II) RADEON(0): Modeline "1680x1050"x0.0 121.00 1680 1704 1792 1876 1050 1051 1054 1065 -hsync -vsync (64.5 kHz) < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 < (II) RADEON(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: < (II) RADEON(0): Modeline "1680x1050"x0.0 121.00 1680 1704 1792 1876 1050 1051 1054 1065 -hsync -vsync (64.5 kHz) < (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 13382 --- > (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor "SEC", prod id 0 ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #20500 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20500 -- [lucid alpha-2][radeon] Color depth degradation after resume (ATI Mobility Radeon X700) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
