There would probably be the same conflict between fglrx and the -ati
driver.  In theory it should be possible to have both drivers installed.
The fglrx package should take care that the fglrx module is only loaded
if the fglrx driver is going to be used.

The xorg drivers do not have any conflicts between them, so this is
purely an issue with the proprietary driver package.
