Well, removing vesa= option didn't change anything, I saw no difference. However, adding radeon.modeset=0 gave a good result. My system booted to console login, but after switching to tty7 I saw well-working X with hardware acceleration, and I was able to run compiz, and any other 3d-applications. Should I just add radeon.modeset=0 to my menu.lst, or is it just a temporary workaround?
