** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel lucid alpha 3.unr. On Acer 1810TZ. EVERYTHING except netbook-launcher flashes white several times a second (weird random-seeming blinking). The netbook-launcher displays perfectly, as does the background. Windows, the top panel etc. all flash insanely. The blinking stops (after a few seconds) when accessing Ubuntu menu (to log out, restart etc). It doesn't start again until a key is pressed. Any key. Shift, ctrl, alphanum... anything. The effect can be seen in the video below (same content, size about 1MB). fanleagues.com/files/test.mpeg or fanleagues.com/files/test.flv In attempting to report this bug, I established a wireless connection, which apparently made the problem much worse. The flickering no made keyboard input extremely slow and sometimes it would be completely impossible to write anything. Fortunately, gnome-settings-daemon crashed at one point (detailed in bug #532701 ), which caused the flickering to stop and input to work again. With the wireless connection active, the flickering couldn't be stopped by accessing the ubuntu menu and xorg was pegged at 50% (100% of 1 core), sometimes more (multithreaded?).To complete this report, I needed to kill gnome-settings-daemon. (ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-intel-video was run while the flickering was present).
