Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
In a dual display setup, with the external monitor at 1024x768 I can reproduce any video by using totem or VLC. If I change to the maximum resolution supported for the external display (1280x1024), then VLC and Totem show no image (just sound) but everything else seems working fine in the X environment.
