Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I've a Nvidia card. When Compiz is activated, X jumps to 70% of my CPU
and then stay between 50 and 90%.

I notices that going to tty1 "fixes" the CPU usage, but X goes back to
70% when I use almost any effect of Compiz (like moving to the next
desktop).

Karmic was already quite bad working for me since I was impacted by bug 419054 :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase-workspace/+bug/419054
(For me, that particular bug was "fixed" by changing the organisation of my
plasmoïds)

My version of Kubuntu :

lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04

apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau:

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Le relevant line of $lspci is :

(rev a1)

Please, feel free to ask me any further information.
