Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
I've a Nvidia card. When Compiz is activated, X jumps to 70% of my CPU and then stay between 50 and 90%. I notices that going to tty1 "fixes" the CPU usage, but X goes back to 70% when I use almost any effect of Compiz (like moving to the next desktop). Karmic was already quite bad working for me since I was impacted by bug 419054 : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase-workspace/+bug/419054 (For me, that particular bug was "fixed" by changing the organisation of my plasmoïds) My version of Kubuntu : lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch) Release: 10.04 apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-nouveau xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: Installato: 1:0.0.15+git20100219+9b4118d-0ubuntu4 Candidato: 1:0.0.15+git20100219+9b4118d-0ubuntu4 Tabella versione: *** 1:0.0.15+git20100219+9b4118d-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Le relevant line of $lspci is : 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8300 GS] (rev a1) Please, feel free to ask me any further information. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- X takes ~70% of CPU when Compiz is activated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545015 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
