When I boot with the 2.6.31-20-generic #58 kernel (see above) I get the following messages when I first boot:
mount: Mounting none on /dev failed: no such ... chroot: Cannot execute /etc/apparmor/initramfs: No such file or directory init: Plymouth main process (283) terminated with status 69 mountall: Could not connect to Plymouth (I took those down by hand so there may be typos) Looking around a bit at bugs like Bug #538292 on Plymouth I'm wondering if the problem when booting with Lucid kernels is due to a Plymouth problem. Note that in addition to the split screen in Gnome and X and blank console screens, a couple of problems remain when booting with Lucid kernels: - while the system is loading, a hazy image slowly covers the text messages on the screen - without an xorg.conf file, and before the screen resolution has been set with the System>Preferences>Monitor dialog, the screen sizes at something like 1600x1200 - and the panel clips that to the upper-left 1024x768 pixels. Note that using a Karmic kernel under Lucid also is a workaround for bug #538893 on a system I have with another model UniChrome display. -- [K8M800] Screen origin shifted to center, screen wraps, ttyN screens don't work, on Averatec 3280 running Lucid with openchrome driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
