Removing driver, restart and re-installing driver via Admin > hardware
drivers interface resulted in same issue.

Using Synaptic, I completely removed fglrx packages, restarted,
reinstalled them. This solved the issue for me. Rough ride to have
before the first cup of coffee for the day ;)
