This is indeed a freeze, not a crash. It's a weird situation where you get a backtrace so it *looks* like a crash, but the crash is a secondary effect that is caused by the system being frozen, if that makes sense.
To answer your earlier question, yes with freeze bugs you do need GPU dumps in order to make a proper defect report. /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state is needed as well - refer to the freeze troubleshooting docs for full directions. ** Summary changed: - [i945] [i945gme] Xorg crashes repeatedly on a netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing + [i945gme] Xorg crashes repeatedly on a netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- [i945gme] Xorg crashes repeatedly on a netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
