We should consider if it makes sense to blacklist KMS for this chipset. Jerry has indicated that by booting his system with i915.modeset=0 that it worked around the issue. I would like to see several more people confirming that it did similarly for them. Please test this.
If there seems to be a consensus favoring blacklisting KMS, then we'll reassign this bug to the kernel and have andy blacklist for us.
