You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have multiple user account on my netbook. One user (me, uid 1000) logged in, using "change user" to change to an other account (uid 1001), all ok. After using thunderbird and firefox user 1001 loggs off. Expect the screen to switch to screen lock prompt for first user (uid 1000).
But Screen gets black and stays so. No screen change using alt-F1, crtl- alt-F1, alt-F7, ctrl-alt-F7, alt/alt-ctrl-F8 or alt/alt-ctrl-F9 possible. System looks completely dead, but rebooting using alt-ctrl-del still works, so doesn't sounds like a kernel lock-up to me, more like a X mode change or screen change problem. Will try to reproduce later. Writing this report after the first reboot, so output of dmesg etc. is not useful. Might be related to #419410?
