Sure.  First, the 8xx series is not well supported upstream, so here at
the distro level in the development version of Ubuntu (i.e. Lucid) our
objective is to ensure the system does not crash or freeze.  If compiz
works, that's great but it's not the same level of seriousness.

Second, Jaunty is a stable release and as such only severe issues are
taken as SRUs.  Compiz not working is not really a severe enough issue
to be accepted by the SRU team.

Third, even despite the above, there is some value to older bug reports
*IF* they define a problem so well that it would serve as reference
documentation for other users.  However, your bug report has only a two
sentence description, and really does not say anything except, "It
doesn't work".

Maybe what you're looking for is technical support.  If so, we have two
technical support channels.  answers.launchpad.net is the free service,
and there is also a paid service.

perfectly on the same hardware in Gutsy Gibbon (7.10)
