I notice this in the Xorg.0.log which looks odd:

Perhaps something is wrong with the EDID of the monitor.  Do you have
other types of CRTs available you could test with to see if it works
properly if you just change monitors?

One other thing to try would be to boot with kernel modesetting turned
off, using the kernel parameter i915.modeset=0 ?
