Every time I reboot/boot up ubuntu I have to change the screen resolution settings back to 1152*864 from the value of 1024*768. I do this by going to system-preferences-display, where I get the message "It appears that your graphics driver does not support the necessary extensions to use this tool. Do you want to use your graphics driver vendor's tool instead?". I have nvidia video card, so it brings me to nvidia x server settings when I click "yes". I then select x server display configuration, click 1152*864, click apply. This changes the resolution, but the change is not remembered by ubuntu upon restarting my computer. (I also tried clicking "save to x configuration file" in nvidia's x server settings, but it says "Failed to parse existing X config file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'!". There is no way that I can get ubuntu to remember or correctly detect my screen resolution. (This would not be a big deal except the default screen resolution shifts my screen to the left, making ubuntu unusable untill I adjust the screen screen resolution.) - Adam ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Feb 26 18:23:56 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Alpha i386 (20100224.1) NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: gnome-control-center 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-19.56-generic SourcePackage: gnome-control-center Uname: Linux 2.6.31-19-generic i686 ** Affects: nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Ubuntu forgets my screen resolution settings every time I reboot https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/528756 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
