Some more info: problem happens on fresh installs as well as upgrades. problem affects wacom intuos 3, 4 and bamboo tablets it is possible to use xsetwacom to remap the buttons but the touch strip/scroll remains affected some old xsetwacom commands that used to work on karmic i.e. to set the button to a numpad key, no longer work.
