As the release notes suggested, I tried booting the Live-CD with
'nomodeset' option under the F6 menu. Interestingly, the vertical lines
were still there but everything (icons, pointer etc.) was doubled about
1/2-inch to the right. I mean 2 "Install Ubuntu" icons, 2 "Examples"
icons, 2 pointers. Everything was too scrambled to get a screenshot.
However the boot-up screen was undistorted with this boot method.
