As was the case for Hardy, the vesa driver does a much better job of detecting 
the display size.  
I generated an xorg.conf with "sudo xorg -configure", changed the driver in 
section "Device" from "radeon" to "vesa" (and commented out "VendorName", 
"BoardName" and "BusID"), and rebooted with "nomodeset".  
xdpyinfo reports screen dimensions 291x212 mm, and resolution 122x126 dpi.
