Same symptoms on a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop, 2.4Ghz, 512MB RAM. 10.04 Live CD and online upgrade from 9.1 to 10.04 both have the same results - monitor goes blank, then to standby. Changing RAM configuration does not fix it.
