Hi,
  I'm a regular on #ubuntu+1 and while I haven't got an ATI hd5xxx card myself
I'm seeing multiple
people with hd5xxx cards reporting when they're trying Lucid that after
installing the Betas they are getting a completely
black screen (sometimes after a splash logo); for a good few of them telling
them to pass radeon.modeset=0 has
fixed this.

  This makes me think that the radeon kms code is trying to modeset for
soemthing it doesn't actually know how to deal with
(or is broken for them).

  Tonights victim had an hd5750 but I think I've seen other hd5xxx;
given it's multiple people and given they get a black screen I get the
feeling a fix is needed, especially given the 5xxx is the newest radeon
that's probably in a lot of machines.

Dave
