Update: seems it's an error in "Xorg", I can set the resolution 1024x768 but under the 1152x864 mode, so the mode 1024x768 will set the mode 800x600, the 1360x768 the mode 1152x864 .. But that caused the re-write of the xorg.conf file by the NVIDIA X Server Settings and the moving of all gnome applets (included trash).
