It's been a couple of days now. Every time I leave the laptop running with the lid closed for a longer period of time (e.g. ~ 30 minutes), something changes the video mode to 1024x768 when I open it.
Every time I close the lid and open it within a couple of minutes, the video mode is correctly set to 1280x800.
