Hi Bryce, I've tested it with the LiveCD of Ubuntu 10.04 on the same laptop (Thinkpad Z60m with ATI x600 mobility) and I don't have the issue. It only occurred after upgrading 8.10 to 9.04 and got fixed in 9.10.
