I have 10.04 on a test partition with 9.04 as my regular system (9.10 never worked satisfactoryly on this machine). Lucid works fine in most respects, no problems switching windows or so. But games like BZFlag or Briquolo don't run smoothly under Lucid, although they run fast enough under 9.10.
Here are some graphics benchmarks I found on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting glxgears: 9.04: 309 FPS 10.04: 484 FPS GLBlur 9.04: FPS 36.5, load 63.5%, polys 28 10.04: fps 17.2, load 82.8%, polys: 28 GtkPerf 9.04: 11.4 seconds 10.04: 16.6 seconds So for glxgears, 10.04 performs slightly better, but for GLBlur or GtkPerf, 9.04 shows much better performance. You can see that GLBlur is much smoother under 9.04. I thought perhaps 3D acceleration was turned off but it is turned on. The computer in question is a Packard Bell EasyNote MZ35 laptop. Ubuntu 9.10 tended to crash so I've reverted to 9.04. 10.04 beta1 and beta2 liveCD wouldn't even boot properly, also a Radeon Xpress 200m related problem. RC and later run fine, but suspend/hibernate don't work. -- [RC410] Radeon X200m poor graphics performance with KMS+DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576125 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
