this crash of x seems to be triggered when ever screensaver kicks in or when i go to change some/any screensaver related setting. Sometimes it happens when i am casually surfing net. So i have done this.
sudo killall gnome-screensaver gconftool-2 --type boolean -s /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/screensaver/start_screensaver false screensaver still did not stop appearing so i did sudo chmod -x /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver now crashes are few are far between but none the less they happen regularly. Specially if i leave computer ideal for 10-20 mins doing nothing. Before lucid i could not even once use ubuntu because of x freezes. This time it is crashing but at least responding to shutdown button press.
