Robert, I have been using the latest maverick kernel for about 24 hours now:
$ uname -r 2.6.34-2-generic I have an Inspiron 1545 and the Intel GM45: $ lspci | grep -i graphics 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) I was previously using the i915.powersave workaround. To test the newer kernel, I installed it, and disabled the i915.powersave workaround. To ensure that it was disabled, I rebooted into the lucid kernel again, and the flickering returned--about every few minutes, like before. Now I've been booted into the latest maverick kernel for about 24 hours now without seeing any flickering. Given how frequently I saw the flickering before, I think that it is likely that the maverick kernel has resolved the issue. However, given the flickering's nondeterministic nature, I will continue using the maverick kernel and post back if the flickering returns. Let me know if there is anything else I can do, short of using git- bisect, to help you track this down. -- [Intel GM45] Irregular sync flashes on 8086:2a42 (Needs i915.powersave quirk) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/538648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
