No problem for 9.10 for me but the problem occured again after the install of 10.04 leading to a freeze of the computer (keyboard not responding anymore) on a black screen.
I tried to use the recovery boot on 10.04, finally leading to the prompt on tty1 after unsuccessfully trying to start Xfailsafe.
