Tried almost everything! So far my touchpad works without any problems! After having so big problems with it, I'm trying to avoid saying that this is the best solution, but: I think the problem isn't in xserver-xorg-input-synaptic, but is in some other package which is not compatible with it.
Just try this solution and let me know if it works for you. I've upgraded my Samsung N210 from Ubuntu 9.10 and after the update a week ago had a lot of problems with touchpad.
