Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
This is on an HP probook 4720s with the ATI graphics card installed. I am using the Xorg drivers not the proprietary ATI ones. I have an external 24" monitor connected via HDMI. The problem is that both screens with freeze, one will tend to go black and the other just all white. I cant say that it us under particularly heavl load, just running firefox or evolution. Only way to fix it is a hard reset. The problem didn't occur when I tried the propitiatory ATI drivers. Also found this is the messages log file "May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942315] ------------[ cut here ]------------ May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942325] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.32/kernel/softirq.c:143 local_bh_enable_ip+0x7b/0xa0() May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942328] Hardware name: HP ProBook 4720s May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942330] Modules linked in: cryptd aes_x86_64 aes_generic binfmt_misc ppdev rfcomm sco bridge stp bnep l2cap snd_hda_codec_atihdmi fbcon tileblit font bitblit softcursor vga16fb vgastate snd_hda_codec_idt arc4 snd_pcm_oss snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_mixer_oss snd_hwdep snd_pcm snd_seq_dummy snd_seq_oss snd_seq_midi snd_rawmidi ath9k snd_seq_midi_event joydev radeon mac80211 ath snd_seq ttm uvcvideo snd_timer snd_seq_device drm_kms_helper btusb videodev v4l1_compat bluetooth v4l2_compat_ioctl32 video output hp_accel psmouse lis3lv02d input_polldev serio_raw cfg80211 led_class snd drm i2c_algo_bit soundcore snd_page_alloc intel_agp lp parport usbhid hid usb_storage r8169 mii ahci May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942386] Pid: 18, comm: events/3 Not tainted 2.6.32-21-generic #32-Ubuntu May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942388] Call Trace: May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942397] [<ffffffff81066d0b>] warn_slowpath_common+0x7b/0xc0 May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942400] [<ffffffff81066d64>] warn_slowpath_null+0x14/0x20 May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942403] [<ffffffff8106de4b>] local_bh_enable_ip+0x7b/0xa0 May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942409] [<ffffffff81540e69>] _spin_unlock_bh+0x19/0x20 May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942422] [<ffffffffa0330955>] ath_tx_node_cleanup+0x185/0x1b0 [ath9k] May 21 10:13:52 horace kernel: [ 68.942428] [<ffffffff81080f2f>] ?
