Public bug reported:
maverick alpha1 with kernel 2.6.34-5 on intel i845G runs fine (for an
early Alpha). Looks like KMS is running and using default Alpha1 intel
driver.
Updates to kernel 2.6.35-1 and 2.6.35-2 boot to black screen so early in the
process that ssh won't work.
Boot in recovery mode gets same black screen nothing works but power off.
Boot with i915.modeset=0 in recovery mode does get up to login screen however
startx results in some low resolution X mode that won't do much.
Attached is dump of some relevant info from the i915.modeset=0 x
failure.
Now booted with "vesa" video driver and running O.K.
Do note that lucid fails same way on i845G however there's a proposed
fix in bug #539772 that is working O.K. I don't know if that fix would
work in maverick.
