It's almost like there's a second routine running that's locking the screen, and this is being applied over top of the value set in Screensaver Preferences.
I just noticed my screensaver also seems to activate a bit too early. I have the basic "Blank screen" set to activate and lock the screen after 1 hour of inactivity. However, my screen blanks after about 5 minutes of inactivity and doesn't lock.
