Ah, a comment in that thread is the key to this, I think - shift numlock
is the hotkey that turns the "feature" on and off. I bet that I've been
hitting that shortcut accidentally. Since it's such a "destructive"
shortcut (i.e. it wrecks the number pad's function) could this bug be
resolved by popping up an obvious-but-automatically-disappearing alert
when the shortcut is selected?

And, could we have an option in the settings dialog for mousekeys to
permanently disable the shortcut? I bet the combination of both of those
would solve this issue for most people.
