I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 amd64 on this same computer.
Then I did apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-evtouch
Then edited /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/50-touchkit??.fdi to reflect
the hardware I'm using.
Reboot and now works as desired. swapx=1 in this fdi file re-verted the x axis
to normal. I won't winge about calibrate_touchscreen not being perfect ... just
having the x axis in the right direction is happiness.
*note: in order for the changes to the .fdi file to reflect on lshal, you must
restart the computer!!* hot-plugging the usb port makes no effect.

BTW all of these other distribution installs had identical inverted
x-axis that were seemingly without a fix: Ubuntu 10.04 netbook remix,
Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 desktop, ubuntu 8.04 amd64 desktop, puppy linux 5.1,
slitaz linux

I will try again this recipe on the ubuntu 10.04 netbook remix partition
I have on that same computer ... just to make sure it does or does not
work.

Thanks,
Chris
