You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Since I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 on my desktop computer, my
old PS/2 mouse (with a ball, non optical) doesn't work any more.
Fortunately, I have an USB mouse for my laptop, and so I plugged it on
the desktop so that I'm able to use the computer anyway.

I searched here and there about such an issue on Internet, but I found nothing
very interesting.
I searched some informations on my computer too, and the only stuff I found was
a kind of error line in the kernel log :

 kernel: [ 9.551353] psmouse.c: <NULL> at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost
synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away.

Before Ubuntu 10.04, I've never encountered any kind of mouse related
problem. As far as I understood, it may be related to some kernel module
issue, or USB legacy support. So, the legacy USB support seems enabled
on my motherboard, and I tried to play with psmouse module insertion
without any more success...

I'm available for any data collection if necessary.
