Completely unsolicited advice as I was searching for another bug: what's /etc/nsswitch.conf look like? What happens if you change the "hosts" line to "hosts: files dns"? and change "passwd", "group" and "shadow" all to "compat" alone?
The symptoms you describe are identical to what I experienced a few years ago with a broken /etc/nsswitch.conf--the file had some questionable settings involving Kerberos and LDAP. -- 64bit Ubuntu 10.04 Stops Responding https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574152 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
