Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
The following error occurs early in the boot process and seems to be responsible for stopping plymouth splash displaying: conflicting fb hw usage inteldrmfb vs VESA VGA - removing generic driver Adding FRAMEBUFFER=y in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash appears to workaround the problem but due to other (likely unrelated) boot warning messages, plymouth is interrupted anyway so unsure whether or not it is a proper workaround.
