Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I'm Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx on Dell Latitude E6410 ATG
Graphics card: Mobile Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD

Laptop freezes under two circumstances (external monitor is black in all
cases):

1. I connect an external monitor after the laptop is already booted up
and I open the display properties to set up the screen.

2. If I boot the laptop with an external monitor attached, the display
stays black and Ubuntu won't boot.

I've tried the following external monitors:
Samsung SyncMaster LD190
Samsung SyncMaster 2233BW

Found this bug for Karmic (Bug #462393).

- workaround with "metacity --replace" doesn't help.
