I experience this bug with a Thinkpad T400 (Intel GMA 4500MHD, i.e. GM45 chip) under Kubuntu (lucid). Is it possible that this bug is somewhat related to KDE? Which KDE Version are you running? At least for my system it seems that this bug only occured in the RC versions of KDE SC 4.5, which have (or now: had) problems with Intel graphic cards, see: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243181 I'll check if it still occurs with the upcoming 4.5 final release, try out mainline kernel and latest xorg-driver if it does, and report back my results.
